People will use all kinds of bits to get a horse to pick up it's shoulder! *YOUCH!* I wonder if there is a proper way to use a piece of equipment like this.. I think not...

is that multiple bits or just one? I have never seen that.
It's one, but it has a twisted wire nose band and a chain chin-strap.
what the heck for!? that sounds slighlty painfull for the horse!
To get him to carry himself "better". Some horses get terrified by the way their owners act so they go nuts, this is how they try to get them under control again. Really it only gets worse, you can fix that kind of behavior by taking a step back and addressing yourself rather than the horse
My horse "Cash" came to me with a very similar bit that her previous owner had used for her... Sigh.. Now I ride her in a Natural Hackamore.

Hey Priscilla!
This isn't exactly relevant to this post... but I was just wondering whether you're officially assessed to Parelli Level 3 or not?

Kerrin,
I have unofficially assessed level 3 freestyle, level 4 liberty, and level 3 online. About 4 weeks ago I sent in my level 3 online and I'm waiting to hear back. I have not done anything official yet, I'm a new savvy club member.
Cool - I look forward to hearing about how you do! I guess that's another goal for you to focus on - being officially assessed to Level 4 before beginning Parelli University :)
