Hey ya'll!

Sorry I've left you guys hanging for the past 2/3 weeks! Horrible of me, I know.

Everything here is going well. Doing school, writing and horsies! The life, right? A little girl once told me, "Painting nails, watching movies and riding horses are the life...."

Yiruma - A River Flows In You

This is a Song I'm learning on the piano right now, I don't even think I'm worthy, it's so beautiful!!!! I'm doing the best I can to learn it all right, all those grace notes can mess you up.

Note: I do not own this song and I'm not playing it in this video....

'Cat Herders'

Ha ha ha! This cracks me up...

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

I went to the Arizona Horse Expo...

...... and met Tina Giordano, 3 star Parelli instructor! I helped in her booth, I'm going to be helping her set up her clinics in exchange for video coaching. She was really really nice and answered all my questions and didn't make me feel silly for asking them! :)

I also saw John Lyons, I local hunter jumper trainer and a higher level dressage rider. It was good stuff and enlightening to watch.

I met a lot and a lot of Natural Horsemanship students and hopefully we can get together soon to have a study group and play-day.

I don't have time to write much more....

I Passed!

Westu Hal!

I heard back from Parelli Auditions and I've passed Level 2 Freestyle (riding) with a 2+! I am super excited! I've already filmed Level 2 Online and I'm going to send it in as soon as I can get my act together.

I was shocked that I passed.... My advice to you guys is to audition if you haven't already. It will tell you a lot about what you could and need to work on.

I got the rest of the headstall in the mail...

Westu Hal!
I got the rest of the bridle pieces in the mail about 2 weeks ago. Since then we've played with it quite a bit. She is really soft with it bit I've noticed the most that she picks up on my energy more, she has more motivation! :) It's a wonderful tool and it's a beautiful bridle! :)

Really fun...

Westu hal.

I played with Jehu and Cricket again today, things went as well and better today as yesterday. It's amazing. I think I'm finally learning how to use treats properly and not as bribes! :) I'm almost ready for the level 2 online audition, no I haven't done it yet. We can do up to level 4 on everything but circling, yet those laps at the trot are coming along.

What I really want to work on is making sure I'm communicating clearly with Cricket, not Cricket-the-cookie-monster.

This is what we're doing Freestyle:

Lots of riding with nothing on her head.
Working on small circles around the barrels with my stick resting on it while she only relies on my focus and legs.
Sideways without reins.
Follow the rail, slide stop, back up 5 steps - as a pattern.

This is what we're doing Online:

Touch it, Level 3.
Circling at the trot.
Stick to me at canter/Mirror me.
Draw at canter.
Jumping with collection.

Thanks for all your support! :)

This is going to be cool!

I just ordered the Parelli Green Ball, I took advantage of a Facebook Free shipping offer.

I'm really curious to know how Cricket will react to Playing with this big new toy. She's doing so well lately, she's happy. I'm happy

Exuberance and motivation

Westu hal, Rohirrim.

I played with Cricket and Jehu this morning. They are just what they ought to be.

Jehu was Calm and Obedient as a Left Brain Extrovert should be and Cricket was Motivated and Trusting as I need my Right Brain Introvert to be! It was amazing!

Cricket was trotting around on a figure-eight and she came around a barrel and she reared with energy and exuberance as I drew her in! I was SO thrilled and she did it 3 times!! I was able to do a figure-eight at the walk and trot without using my reins when we were riding Freestyle (riding).

Jehu can do really great stuff right now. He was perfect! He did calm and controlled figure-eights online, he let me touch his "oh no" spots, and he came up to me for mounting. This is great! We're also working on bridling, he isn't ready to be ridden in it but it's never to early to start to put a bit in their mouth. I let him go at Liberty to run around and I encouraged him the slightest and he trotted up to me beautifully!

AH! I'm so exited!!! EEEEEK!

Do something...

"Why do we ask ourselves things when we're not the one with the answers?"

Westu Hal, Mellon!

I got the Parelli Level 4 kit for my Birthday (we Celebrated it early) this year and I'm THRILLED! I got the C2 bit at first then I got the head stall a few days ago, it FITS! Super happy.

I also sent it my Level 2 Freestyle (riding), I'm not going to show it to you until I find out if I've passed.

My challenge for you guys: Do something with your horse that you never tried just because you didn't think you could do it. Make sure you stay safe and wear a helmet!
